Chicken Wire Memory Board

I got these two lovely pictures from the local Goodwill . . . Goodwill is a great place to find things for DIY crafting projects. I went in looking for two picture frames that were similar and a good size. I had no idea that I'd find exactly what I wanted! It was meant to be. And to be honest when I got the frames I wasn't exactly 100% sure what I was going to use them for, but I had a couple things brewing...

Gave them a good coat of Hierloom White spray paint, and they looked GORGEOUS! Really made me think of all the things I could probably buy or that I already have and could refinish and give them a new life!

Luckily the mom-to-be has a yard full of chickens so I knew exactly where I could snatch some chicken wire to finish the project off!

I just loved how they turned out at the shower. I clipped baby pictures of the parents-to-be on the chicken wire with baby clothes pins.

DIY Paper Lanterns

I'm slacking terribly with sharing all the details of the baby shower. Through each new idea or crafting project that led up to the big day, {i tried} to document as best I could. It's been a while but I've got a couple more things for you all.
First . . .
Paper Lanterns . . . DIY style!

I bought 3 packages of the picture above from Hobby Lobby {the BEST place on earth!}. It was 3 paper lanterns 3 different sizes - small, medium, & large. I got them in probably like April or May right when their summer garden theme decorations came out. I knew I wanted to do something with paper lanterns, and I obviously knew she wasn't going to be decorating anything with bright yellow or green, but for $5.99 {+50% off} I had to get them and take the chance that a little spray paint would work in my favor.

So my husband got me all set-up outside our apartment and I hung the lanterns from a string and went to town spray painting. . . . HOPING for the best!

Quixote was helping! :)

Luckily, spray painting paper turned out to be genius! I spray painted them two of the colors she was using in the nursery . . . Silver & Heirloom White {best color spray paint, which I used on almost everything!}

It's a good thing my husband is as anal as I am. We are a perfect match! He helped me hang them, until we were completely satisfied with their hanging orientation.
Here they are in the room. I hung them right above the gift table. You could only tell they were once yellow and green if you got right underneath them. I was very happy with how they turned out, & the price made it even more fantastic.

Labor Day Weekend

Last weekend Todd and I packed up the car and headed west, destination . . . Panama City Beach. How exciting, right? Well, it started out on a sad note having to drop our poor Quixote off at the boarder for the weekend. :( I'm telling you what, if having to leave your kids for the first time is anything like how I felt Friday when we said goodbye to her. . . Well, let's just say I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to EVER leave my kids! After we got over our sadness of having to leave Quixote for 4 days, {I took a nap and Todd sang sweet country love-songs} and we were there!! I'll have to be honest, I enjoy all things NEW so when we travel to a place we've never been and I have to look in to finding a place for us to stay, lots of time and energy are put in to finding the perfect place! Let's just say that after this past weekend Todd has given me the right to pick our place-of-stay for the remainder of our vacations!! Our resort was AWESOME!! We had such an enjoyable time together and since we learned after we checked in that DOGS are allowed, we will definitely be returning next year. . . Hopefully, with family and friends in tow! I hope everyone else had an enjoyable long weekend.
